Lecture Presentation
CAREFULLY READ ALL
Out of concern for the safety and health of all participants due to the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, a hybrid format has been adopted for NEWCAS 2022, whereby participants may participate either in-person or virtually. Following, you will find detailed information for preparing your lecture and poster presentations.
Please confirm how you will be attending NEWCAS2022 via this survey.
There are two (2) formats of presentation possible: Live on site and live via on-line streaming platform.
IMPORTANT: Regardless of which format is selected, whether live on-site or on-line , a pre-recorded video of each oral presentation will be prepared by all authors (regardless of whether participation is in-person or virtual), and these will be available to all participants on the streaming platform. Please see the page about Pre-Recorded Lecture Video for detailed information.
Live on site
The duration of a presentation is 15 minutes. You will have 12 minutes for the presentation itself and 3 minutes for questions from the audience.
A LCD projector & computer will be available in every session room for regular presentations. Neither Overhead projectors, 35mm slides projectors, VHS videotape player nor DVD player will be available.
Preparation of Visuals:
-
Templates with detailed instructions are avalaible for download.
-
Speakers should arrive in the session room at least 10 minutes BEFORE the start of their assigned session and report to the chair person. A proctor should be available in case you need technical assistance.
-
Please load your presentation file in .ppt format onto the lecture room computer during the break BEFORE your assigned time, and make sure it displays properly. To avoid software compatibility problems (MS Powerpoint), speakers are advised to save their Powerpoint presentation on a secondary support (USB device, memory card). Also have a .pptx and PDF version of your presentation.
-
IMPORTANT: FILE NAME must contains the paper number only as provided when you submitted your proposal in the following format: 8888.ppt. Any deviation from that format will result in delays to the presentation and time taken to fix it will be substratced from the presentation duration.
General Considerations:
- Limit the number of words per visual to no more than 20.
- Leave space, at least the height of a capital letter, between lines of text.
- All fonts, including that on graphs, should be 18 point or larger.
- Graphs and charts should have bold lines and symbols that contrast sharply with the background.
Live via streaming platforms
All information pertaining to preparing the presentation is the same as the live on-site format (see section above). Information on how to upload your presentation will be forthcoming very soon.
Pre-recorded video
Whether you choose to be present on-site at the venue in Québec City or present via the streaming platform a pre-recorded video of each lecture presentation will be prepared by all authors. Please see the page about pre-recorded video for detailed information.
Once your video recording is complete, you will be able to upload your video using a submission link that we will provide in the coming days. With the timelines needed to hold the hybrid conference, we will need your video uploaded no later than May 9, 2022. This is a HARD DEADLINE. Presentations will not be accepted after this date.
